Kunsthaus Zürich

Lonnie van Brummelen / Siebren de Haan

6 September – 10 November 2013

Lonnie van Brummelen (*1969) and Siebren de Haan (*1966) have been working together since 2001, principally in the medium of film. In 2005, Lonnie van Brummelen was awarded the prestigious Prix de Rome for her work ‘Grossraum’ (2004/05), which was shown in the exhibition ‘Shifting Identities’ at the Kunsthaus in 2008 and is now in the collection of MoMA, New York.

In their works, Lonnie van Brummelen and Siebren de Haan address political, social and economic issues and changes, translating them into creations that are both visually striking and formally impressive. The exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zürich is the artists’ first solo show in Switzerland, and is being staged in association with the S.M.A.K. (Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst) in Ghent (Belgium). It centres on a new film work which is being created specially for the Kunsthaus.

Supported by Mondriaan Fund, Amsterdam
and by the Dr. Georg and Josi Guggenheim Foundation.
