Who? What? How? These are the questions at the heart of our work, and they relate to pictures and sculpture, the people with whom we work and the methods we employ. Our goal is to create an open, friendly atmosphere in which visitors and tutors alike can enter into an active exploration of artistic expression; the challenge is to find the art-historical and didactic approach which triggers this process, is most appropriate to the works considered and best meets the needs of the group itself.
We have been engaged in pedagogical work since the seventies. The traditional definition of pedagogy refers to the range of school activities which brings the museum into contact with young people at all levels; however, this represents only one aspect of our work. The demands of professional training and education and the ever-changing needs of the public require the development of a broad spectrum of content and presentation. Aside from personal interaction, astounding new possibilities have been opened up by CD-ROM and the Internet; and in the area of leisure we have made a quantum leap: to live up to the much quoted notion of the open museum the Kunsthaus workshop offers a broad range of events for children, young people and adults. We hope you will find something of interest and that we can count on your support.
