Art Restoration

The Conservers

Art works can survive for long periods if kept under suitable conditions. Our primary task is therefore to create and provide such conditions for the Collection rooms, exhibition galleries and storerooms. After this comes the conservation of individual works from the Collection, or sometimes of works loaned to us for exhibition. These comprise paintings, sculptures, installations as well as prints and photos. In our work we have particular respect for artist’s and the accretions of history be it old varnish, patina, signs of aging, or marks by the artist. Where earlier treatment has demonstrably degraded the substance, we attempt to clarify, after thorough technical analysis and comprehensive discussions with the relevant specialists, to what extent such loss can be made up. It is our goal to keep and exhibit works in their distinct original form.
