Project management for Kunsthaus extension

Creating value!

Kunsthaus extension project management

Since 2006 project organization has been adapting dynamically to each phase of the Kunsthaus extension. In late 2009 general responsibilities were transferred to the Einfache Gesellschaft Kunsthaus-Erweiterung and re-assigned. Internal project management has since been chiefly concerned with coordinating the requirements of the building’s future user and the demands placed upon the facility with regard to secure operation and efficient maintenance.

Technical services, exhibition organizers and the various art-education, retail and custodial crews: all must enjoy optimal conditions so as to ensure appropriate presentation, high security, and the best possible customer service, and Dag Vierfuss accordingly demands experience and thinking outside the box from curators and section heads alike. The architect with a background in project management is himself familiar with the museum’s needs and can represent them within the project team as the latter discuss the future user’s wishes with various expert planners, develop solutions, and subject implementation concepts to feasibility studies. Working in tandem with the city of Zurich’s relevant project team and David Chipperfield Architects, Vierfuss works up proposals for the building committee so as to guarantee that the extension’s infrastructure maximally support all of the Kunsthaus Zürich's offerings.
