Faces that fit
Around 100 times a day customers and art aficionados are greeted on the phone with the words “Hello, Kunsthaus Zurich...”, some want information about an exhibition, while others would like to discuss something with the Kunsthaus management. We, the telephonists Rosmarie Greinacher, Alexandra Koller and Franziska Schedle, are the faces behind the voices.
Our workplace, which we share on a part-time basis, can be found in the Winkelwiese on the first floor of the Villa Tobler, a magnificent art nouveau building with a view over the rooftops of the old town and the lake of Zurich. We can be reached by customers Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1.15 p.m. to 5 p.m. But our duties don’t stop with answering the telephone; we are also responsible for post, distribution of fax messages and e-mails, ordering office and printing materials, processing registrations for workshops on current exhibitions for young and old alike, billing and welcoming collectors, suppliers, advertising agencies, journalists and all those who have appointments with our colleagues.
When dealing with phone queries or greeting guests we see ourselves as the public face of the Kunsthaus, as a window onto the world of art. We do our best, in French, German and Italian, to ensure that our customers receive a friendly and efficient service and to contribute towards the public image of the Kunsthaus as a warm, welcoming and professional institution.
Naturally, the majority of the information which we are asked for can already be found on the Kunsthaus web site, but many callers value personal contact. We are there for you even outside of opening hours – the recorded message provides up-to-date details of all current exhibitions and events.
