Kunsthaus Zürich

Conservation

Dr. René Wehrli established the conservation and restoration department of the Kunsthaus Zürich in 1960 for the technical and conservational maintenance of the museum’s continuously growing collection.

Today the collection holds approximately 4000 paintings, sculptures and installations ranging from the middle ages to contemporary art. The graphic collection holds around 95’000 watercolors, drawings and prints and the rapidly growing photography collection some 800 photos. The individual works of the different departments require very distinctive conditions and appropriate care.
