In order to protect the metal from the elements and pollutants a mixture of several micro-crystalline waxes was applied to the slightly heated bronze surface. After the cooling down the wax was polished so as to make for a more dense protective coating.
Now the surface is not only freed from both dirt and corrosive deposits, but it is also visually improved and conserved with the best possible important protective layer for a certain length of time.
At the conclusion of the restoration and conservation a protective roof should be installed above “The Three Shades” in order to minimize the strong effects of the elements.
