Conservation / restoration of the studied plasters
(Autumn 2012 – Summer 2014)
Phase two of the project will deal with implementing the necessary conservation procedures as well as conducting crucial aesthetically oriented restoration work.
Several works have fractures, cracks and broken-off parts. They need intensive conservational measurements. Of capital importance is the prevention of damages and loss of substance. It is therefore important that our work is accompanied by preventive conservation measures In practical terms, this involves asking ourselves what improvements can be made regarding storage and transport, so that damage can be avoided in the future.
Essential surface cleaning will, without no doubt, take off the huge amount of dust from the past decades, maybe also help to reduce unattractive stains of rust?
In just a few years we will know more!
The project should conclude with a major exhibition showing the sculptures that have been conserved and restored in context with the existing Alberto Giacometti Foundation collection.
