The Kunsthaus Zürich has published a complete and illustrated survey of its collection of approximately 4000 paintings and sculptures in a comprehensive catalogue. In addition to this catalogue, the Kunsthaus is also presenting to the public a richly illustrated, full-colour volume with commentaries on a selection of the most important works in its holdings.
A reference work for paintings and sculptures
The introduction to the published catalogue of paintings and sculptures traces the history of the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft. The 740-page reference catalogue, which was published in 2007, features images of all the paintings and sculptures and groups them according to art historical periods and describes them exhaustively in terms of provenance and applied techniques. A considerable proportion of the catalogue is devoted to painting in Zurich since the sixteenth century and to Swiss art in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
A lavish 332-page color publication accompanying the main catalogue presents a selection of masterworks. It is available in English, German and French. Around half of the works on permanent display in the Kunsthaus are illustrated in the volume ‘Masterpieces’.
Both catalogues are available at the Kunsthaus Shop.
All new artworks acquired since 2006 are published in the corresponding yearly report of the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft, the Arts Association of the Kunsthaus Zürich, which is on view in the museum library. The current issue is on view here.
