Thanks to many important long-term loans which form a perfect complement to the Kunsthaus’s own holding of six paintings and three sculptures, visitors can gain an overview of Picasso’s artistic development. The first acquisition from 1932 remains the most important: the choice of a work of Synthetic Cubism was deliberate, its playfully rhythmic composition based on a combination of the most diverse two-dimensional elements provides the foundation for the inventive combinative free-play of his later work as well as for abstract geometric art.
