It was in 1998, as preparations for the exhibition Clear View of the Mediterranean. Young Swiss Art with Guests were nearing completion, that the curators' attention was first drawn to Nic Hess, at the time a virtual unknown. They decided on the spot to include him as a wildcard in the exhibition. Since then he has received a number of important art awards and gained an international reputation for his works. Last year the Kunsthaus purchased the artist's collage The Scream, which evokes Munch's Scream as a trademark, as well as several drawings.
