Artist Talk with Yto Barrada
The Moroccan-French artist Yto Barrada (b. 1971) works across media, using film, photography, wood, and cloth. She has a particular interest in textiles, for which she uses natural dyes from plants in her garden in Tangier.
In her contribution to ReCollect!, Barrada stages an encounter between her own artistic practice with a variety of works from the Kunsthaus collection, all created in 1971. Using associative techniques, she weaves them together into a colourful, spatial tapestry, uncovering the links of personal stories to historical events. To inaugurate this new presentation, co-curator Laura Vuille talks with the artist about her interest in the materiality of colour, processes of learning and play, as well as her experiences in engaging with the collection.
The ticket price includes admission to the exhibition ReCollect! Yto Barrada on 12th December from 5 - 8 p.m. The exhibition is located on the ground floor of the Moser building.
